Från Palestinian Media Watch: PA youth taught that suicide terrorists are “greatest role models” on EU-funded NGO’s TV program

Last week, Israel transferred the bodies of 91 terrorists including
numerous suicide bombers to the Palestinian Authority. A PA TV program
for youth, Speak Up, glorified the 91 terrorists saying they were:

“More honored than all of us… They are the greatest role models for us.”

The TV program is co-produced by PA TV and PYALARA, an NGO for youth funded by the EU, Save the Children and other international donors.

According to the Burj Luq Luq Center’s website where the puppet show was held, they are funded and have ties to the French Consulate, the Swiss Development Agency, the Italian Institutions’ Union, the UNFPA, the [PA] Ministry of Youth and Sports, UNICEF and UNESCO.

Condell: Antisemitism driver palestinierna

Det första är lite trevande: The great Palestinian lie

Men här han tillbaka i klassisk arg, stenhård form: Useful idiots for Palestine

Hon citeras bland annat i Ekot:

A Palestinian prisoner on his 61st day of hunger strike while shackled to a bed in an Israeli hospital is in immediate danger of death, according to a medical report submitted to the supreme court in an effort to secure his release.

Khader Adnan, 33, a baker from a village near Jenin, is being held without charge by the Israeli authorities under a four-month term of “administrative detention”. He began his hunger strike on 18 December, the day after being arrested.

One is that Adnan is a leader of Islamic Jihad, the most hard-line terrorist group in the territories. He has been a leader of the group for years, calling for Islamic Jihad to continue to have weapons even under PA rule.

He was arrested by the PA as well, and even embarked on a hunger strike against the Abbas regime while in PA jail only a year previous to the current hunger strike.

The other is that administrative detention is perfectly legal and necessary.

Han citerar en artikel från Israel Hayom:

Israeli military officials generally use administrative detention to hold Palestinians who are believed to be an imminent risk to the country’s security. They say that if the evidence against the accused was made public, it would expose Israeli intelligence-gathering networks in the Palestinian territories. They say the process is under full judicial review by Israel’s military and the Supreme Court.

Amnesty kräver “Radical change in Israel approach”

Jag citerade The Telegraphs utrikeskorre Con Coughlin:

Most people in the West believe the main reason the talks are not going anywhere is because of Israel’s refusal to compromise on its settlement building programme. But while the Netanyahu government’s insistence on building settlements is certainly an obstacle, I am told by Western diplomats close to the exploratory talks that are currently taking place in Jordan between the two sides that the real reason they are running into difficulty is because the Palestinian delegation, led by the veteran Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, is refusing to take the talks seriously.
For example, I am told by a Western diplomat working for the Quartet that when the Israeli delegation arrived for a meeting last weekend in Amman, the Jordanian capital, to present their latest security proposals, Mr Erekat simply refused to enter the room.

Israel: Från Huffington Post – Amnesty International: Radical Changes Needed in Israel Approach

The Quartet, comprised of representatives from the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations, has facilitated the so-called peace negotiations for the past 10 years with little change in their approach, and 2012 does not bode well for those in the region or for prospects for peace.
While Amnesty International takes no position on the peace process per se, the organization urges that any negotiations be founded on ensuring respect for human rights. Amnesty is calling on the United States and other members of the Quartet not to let negotiations drag on as they have done for years without progress, but to instead implement immediate and essential changes in their approach.

Artikeln beskriver problem med bosättningar:

Since the 1993 Oslo Agreement, Amnesty has underlined with increasing urgency the need to base peace on the human rights enshrined in international human rights standards. This should extend to the construction of Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian territory, which violates the prohibition on population transfers by an occupying power into lands that it occupies.
Last December, a group of 20 international humanitarian and human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, issued a joint statement highlighting startling numbers for 2011; most disturbing among them is the fact that a “record number of Palestinians were displaced in 2011 due to home demolitions.”
The figures show that since the beginning of 2011 more than 500 Palestinian essential structures were destroyed in the OPT, with over 1,000 Palestinians displaced — doubling the number displaced over the same period in 2010, and the highest figure since at least 2005. More than half of those displaced have been children.
The rate of illegal Israeli settlement expansion in occupied territory increased, as did violence perpetrated by settlers on Palestinians. […]
In 2011, the construction of settler housing units accelerated, and plans for around 4,000 new units were approved for East Jerusalem — the highest number since at least 2006.
Violent attacks by settlers against Palestinians, including children, escalated by over 50 percent in 2011 compared to 2010, and by over 160 percent compared to 2009. Settlers have destroyed or damaged nearly 10,000 Palestinian trees in 2011, undermining the livelihoods of hundreds of families with virtual impunity. Over 90 percent of complaints of settler violence were closed by the Israeli police without indictment from 2005-2010.
In 2012, up to 2,300 Bedouin living in the Jerusalem periphery face forcible and unlawful relocation if Israeli authorities follow through with their reported plans, and rural communities in the Jordan Valley face the prospect of further demolitions as settlements continue to expand.
The increasing rate of settlement expansion, demolitions and other human rights violations make any prospect for a just and sustainable peace virtually impossible, and the continuing disconnect between the Quartet talks and the situation on the ground is dangerous.

Violent acts by Palestinians on Israelis also continued, including rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

Palestinsk TV hyllar brutal terroraktion

Från Palestinian Media Watch:

Twice last week, official Palestinian Authority TV broadcast greetings to the murderers of the Fogel family from the relatives of the killers and from the PA TV host.

On March 11, 2011, five members of the Fogel family were killed in their home in the Israeli town Itamar by Palestinian terrorists from the Awad family. Hakim Awad led the attack, killing the parents Ehud and Ruth and three of their children, aged 11 years, 4 years, and 2 months.

On the phone, Hakim Awad’s mother “blesses” her “dear son,” and despite the fact that participants in this TV program normally do not mention the terror attacks for which their relatives are serving time, the mother mentions that her son is the one who “carried out the operation in Itamar and sentenced to 5 life sentences,” referring to her son’s brutal killings in the town Itamar.

Hakim Awad’s aunt also participated in the program and referred to the terrorists involved in the killings as “heroes,” calling Hakim Awad “the hero, the legend.” This prompted the PA TV host to add: “We, for our part, also convey our greetings to them.”

Här är filmen:

Nyhetssajten Ynet beskriver vad som hände i Itamar

Rabbi Yaakov Cohen, a neighbor who discovered the bodies, said that the Fogel’s 12-year-old daughter knocked on his door around 12:45 am Saturday. She said that no one opened the door at her home, and that there are muddy footprints at the entrance.

“I took my weapon and we went up to the back window of the house, where we saw one of the surviving children,” Cohen said. “He was sitting in the center of the living room, where there was no sign of blood, only mud.”

They then asked the boy to open the front door.

“The daughter went into one of the rooms, and saw the horror before I did,” Cohen said. “I entered and saw that another boy survived, a two-year-old. He was lying next to his bleeding parents, shaking them with his hands and trying to get them to wake them up, while crying.”

The Telegraph: Palestinierna förhalar fredsförhandlingar

My man in the Jordan conference room says that he was surprised at Mr Erekat’s behaviour, especially as the topic under discussion was supposed to be one of the two main topics the Palestinian delegation wanted on the agenda for the Jordan talks, which are a precursor for the more formal talks that are supposed to take place once both sides have agreed a negotiating framework.

Palestinian activist Mahmoud abu Rahma was released from the hospital Wednesday after he was stabbed and critically wounded last week.
Rahma is the director of international relations at the Gaza Strip-based Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, and is known for speaking out against Palestinian militants and leaders, The Los Angeles Times reported.
His masked attackers approached him on Friday night as he left his brother’s home in Gaza, and stabbed him in the back, leg and shoulder. They remain unknown.
According to Al Mezan, Rahma was also attacked on Jan. 3 outside his own home, but he was not injured, The Jerusalem Post reported.
“Abu Rahma has received many threats on his mobile and email, including messages threatening his safety and life,” Al Mezan Center said in a statement released Wednesday.
The attacks were most likely motivated by a recent article the activist penned for Maan News Agency, an independent Palestinian news source, titled “The Gap Between Resistance and Governance.”
The piece criticized Palestinian government officials and resistance movements for silencing critics, detaining and torturing political opponents, and endangering civilians by placing military stations in residential neighborhoods, the Times reported.
